Sleepy Hollow Residents Fear Return Of “Headless Horseman”

Posted by Morgan

Foreboding prophecy and appearance of Icharus Crane in Sleepy Hollow alarms townsfolk.

Late Fall, Sleepy Hollow – The arrival of Icharus Crane in Sleepy Hollow has several residents on full alert, fearing a return of the Headless Horseman who hasn’t ridden in Sleepy Hollow since the mysterious disappearance of Crane’s father, Ichabod Crane, some twenty-five years previous.

Braughton Van Ripper, nephew to the now deceased Hans Van Ripper, decries the possibility, calling the Headless Horseman nothing more than a figment of imagination – even though it is well known his Uncle Hans’s home was the last known resting place for the superstitious old schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane…before his disappearance after what some have called a ghastly midnight ride.

Local rumor mill says Crane was chased away from Sleepy Hollow years ago after a crushing set-down from Katrina Van Brunt (then Van Tassel) at the end of a night of frolic and celebration at the Van Tassel home. His pursuer? None other than the mad Hessian himself, otherwise known as the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.

Now however, with mere survival the main focus of all in Sleepy Hollow, there is little wonder the residents are upset by the appearance of Crane’s son after all these years. Will the Horseman ride again, seeking out this new Crane as he did his predecessor? Should the people fear his wrath? Will the Witch summon the Hessian to exact some unknown revenge on the townfolk?

No one can say for sure, but a storm is brewing on Sleepy Hollow’s horizon…
